Camp Packing List

By Anthea Dawson

Packing for sleep away camp can seem like an overwhelming task, especially with multiple children. Agonizing over how many t-shirts, bathing suits and pairs of underwear to add, not to mention the labeling process (thank you, Mabel’s Label’s), is enough to drive parents mad - especially when the reality is that half of the clothes will come back dirty beyond recognition and the other half pristine and completely unused. Packing comfortable, practical, all-weather friendly gear is key, and nothing precious that can’t withstand lengths of time without washing. Here’s a helpful packing guide to get your kids through 2 weeks or a month at sleep away camp…. Let Hatley get the kids kitted out with a one-stop shop!

Clothing and Gear Essentials:

  1. multiple socks/underwear
  2. 2-3 bathing suits

About the author: Anthea Dawson Oldland is a professionally trained chef who worked for years in the restaurant and catering world before her three kids came along. Her focus had to quickly shift from working black tie events on New Year's eve to purees, bake sales and chicken fingers. Now with older kids, she finds it easier to work her trained style of cooking into everyday life, making one family meal that is nutritious and delicious, that hopefully challenges everyone's taste buds and opens up their eyes to interesting food. She lives in Montreal, Quebec and is currently working on a cookbook of family recipes.
